About This Spot

Stepping into Tinos, tucked away on a quiet stretch of 1st Avenue in the Upper East Side, you immediately sense a subtle warmth that feels both personal and inviting. It’s the kind of place where time slows just enough for genuine connections—to the food, the people sharing the table, and the stories behind each dish. The atmosphere hums with a comfortable intimacy, a relaxed rhythm that welcomes you to linger rather than rush.

This Greek restaurant captures the essence of a neighborhood treasure, a spot cherished by locals and visitors alike for its sincere approach to traditional flavors. The space itself doesn’t shout for attention but quietly beckons diners into a shared reverence for the simple pleasures of well-prepared food and thoughtful service. It’s unpretentious, yet every detail—from the way the fresh vegetables glisten on a classic Greek salad to how the aroma of grilled lamb fills the air—feels carefully considered.

Here, the menu unfolds like a journey through coastal tavernas and family kitchens of the Aegean, singling out the ingredients that make Greek cuisine so timeless. Whether it’s the tender octopus kissed by lemon and herbs or the flaky, honeyed sweetness of a galaktoboureko, each bite connects thoughtfully to a broader tradition. Seafood arrives fresh and lively, grilled just right, while the hearty, slow-cooked dishes offer comfort without excess. Paired with a chilled beer or a glass of local wine, these moments feel grounded, quietly joyful.

Behind the scenes, there’s an unmistakable care in how staff move through the room—professional yet approachable, attentive without interrupting the calm flow of the meal. It’s the kind of hospitality that invites curiosity about the menu and encourages savoring each course without pressure.

Whether you’re settling in for a relaxed dinner or wandering in after an afternoon exploring the neighborhood, Tinos feels like an authentic encounter—familiar yet fresh. It’s a place that leaves you remembering the human moments as much as the food, a reminder that sometimes the best discoveries come from places that embrace tradition with quiet confidence.

Absolutely fantastic food all around. We ordered in on NYE and it had about 30 blocks to travel, and we were beyond impressed with how well it traveled, on NYE no less! Everything was so delicious and flavorful. Salad -- best feta cheese I think I've ever had with very fresh and crispy veggies. I added grilled chicken to my salad the seasoning was the perfect complement. Salmon was also fantastic, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Pita slices that came with our meals were also scrumptious! 10/10 recommend and I cant wait to order from here again!

My bf is Greek and brought me here as he consider this place the best Greek restaurant in UES and one of the spots with the best traditional Greek cuisine recipes. I got the Kokkinisto (beef slow cooked in red sauce) that they are serving with hand cut fries. Perfection!!

Found this place by coincidence just looking on Apple Maps and what a great find. It’s a cozy intimate atmosphere with extremely welcoming staff. The service was impeccable, you don’t feel rushed the waiters are very attentive. You can tell that everyone there really cares about the service they provide. The food?? AMAZING. All the vegetables and seafood we had was so fresh, and the food was so flavorful. I would recommend making a reservation especially if you’re coming around dinner time, it gets packed quick! I will definitely be coming back

Phenomenal food and great service! We enjoyed this hole in the wall restaurant with authentic Greek food. The Arno souvlaki, milder, seafood paella, and lamb chops were so good!

We had a few hours stop in UES so we visited for dinner Tinos restaurant. We enjoyed the authentic Greek cuisine in the heart of Manhattan! We ordered traditional Greek dishes such as saganaki (grilled cheese), Greek salad and paidakia (lamb chops). Everything was excellent, the service too!

Tino’s is what makes nyc food scene incredible. Small place but packed on a Saturday night. The dips were flavorful and they didn’t skimp on the pita. Meat was tender and juicy. Spanakopita was flaky and fresh. Dessert was well balanced. If you are more than two people I would recommend a reservation since it fills up fast.

We had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely outstanding — attentive, friendly, and professional. The food was incredibly tasty, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. On top of that, the staff went above and beyond by surprising us with several complimentary dishes “on the house,” which made us feel extra welcome and appreciated. It’s rare to find a place that combines delicious food, warm hospitality, and such generosity. Highly recommend this spot — we will definitely be coming back!

I recently visited Tinos, and I personally think this is the best Greek restaurant in UES and was blown away by their use of fresh Mediterranean ingredients. I ordered the Greek salad, and it was absolutely delicious-crisp vegetables, tangy feta, and perfectly seasoned olives. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Greek flavors!
